Health Rules

5. Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) - All horses and other equine must be official ELISA or AGID (Coggins) test negative within on year of admission to the show.  The negative test report must accompany the horse or equine.  The negative test must have been conducted within 12 months of the opening date of the show.  The negative test report must be issued to the current owner of all horses, including pulling teams, and must include an accurate description of the horse including age, color, and sex, plus any other reliable identifications such as tattoos, distinctive marks, etc.  Solid color animals must be identitied by some method of inique identification such as a lip tattoo, brand or at least (2) distinct markings.  Foals less than 6 months of age accompanied by a dam which meets this requirement are exempt from EIA testing requirements.  If the foal is not accompanied by the dam, a copy of the dam's test results must accompany the foal.

 

6. Horses and other equidae must be immunized to prevent contagious respiratory disease (4 in 1 will be accepted - Tetanus Toxoid, EEE-Eastern Equine Encephacomyelitis, WEE-Western Equine Encephacomyelitis, Influenze) not less than 15 days before the show.  Exhibitors are advised to consult their veterinarian regarding proper conditioning and vaccination of their animals at least 30 days prior to the show.

 

7. Animals are not to be removed from truck or trailer until inspected and clarified by department chairman.

 

Out of state equine:

1. See #5 under Health Rules for all Livestock

2. If animal has resided in Texas or New Mexico for 30 days in the last 6 months please contact department head.
