Health Rules for all Livestock

-All animals must be accompanied by the required paperwork upon arrival and will not be unloaded until such paperwork is verified by the department chairman.

 

-All animals presented for exhhibition will be subject to inspection by show officials and will be rejected if evidence of infectious, contagious or parasitic disease is apparent or if health certification or identification documentation is not acceptable.

 

-It is recommended that all show animals be isolated from the other members of the herd or flock for 2-4 weeks to help prevent the spread of disease.

 

Required

1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspcetion (CVI) issued after May 1st of current year.

2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI. (The statement is pre-printed on the CVI) Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the fairgrounds.

3. All exhibitors must sign the entry blank to confirm the "vet-client-patient relationship."

4. A current (30 day or more and not more than 12 months from opening day) rabies vaccination administered by a licensed veterinarian is required for animals 3 months of age and older.  If a mare was currently vaccinated against rabies when she foaled, the foal is not required to ve vaccinated untial six months of age, with a second vaccination administered two to four weeks later.  All vaccine label directions must be followed and all rabies vaccinated animals must be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificale or the vaccination information must be included on the CVI.  If a rabies vaccination certificate is provided, the certificate must contain legible name and contact information of the veterinarian who asministed the vaccine and the veterinarian's signature.  A copy of the rabies vaccination certificate is acceptable.

5. For out of state cattle, horses, goats, sheep, rabbits and swine: the Certificate of Veterinary INspection (CVI) issued written 60 days prior to opening day.  If animal comes from a state in which vesicular stomatitis has been identified, or a bordering state, the CVI shall include a statement verifying that "all animals identified on this certificate of veterinary inspection have been examined and found to be free from Vesicular Stomatitis.  During the past 90 days, These animals have neither been exposed to VS nor located within 10 miles of a site where VS has been diagnosed."
